Pretty much says it all. The rally preceeding delivery of the petitions (over 1,600 covering 200+ pages) was pretty nice. A variety of speakers presented the case for Living Wage (moral, faith-based, economic, etc) in the bright sunshine of a mid August day downtown. After the speeches almost the entire group of 70 folks who showed up (many of whom were volunteers in collecting the petitions) walked across the street to the County office building and then up 4 flights of steps to deliver the petitions to the election commission. I’d guess it was the largest number of people to ever be in the office at any one time, the group pretty much filled the area with kids, TV news cameras and American flags. It was a nice event.
